Your special occasion deserves a hairstyle that makes you feel beautiful, confident, and completely yourself. Whether you're preparing for a wedding, attending a formal event, celebrating a milestone, or getting ready for a glamorous night out, the right hairstyle can bring your entire look together.

At The Artisan Parlor, our goal is to create event and bridal hairstyles that complement your features, suit your personal style, and work beautifully with your hair. From timeless updos to soft, romantic curls, we're here to help you find a look you'll love.

Finding the Perfect Hairstyle for Your Special Event

With so many beautiful hairstyles to choose from, deciding on the perfect look can feel overwhelming. Should you wear your hair up, leave it down, or choose something in between?

The best place to start is with your event, outfit, face shape, and personal style. During your consultation, your stylist will consider these details to recommend a hairstyle that highlights your best features and complements the overall look you're envisioning.

If you have an inspiration photo, bring it along! Photos are a wonderful starting point for discussing your dream hairstyle. Your stylist can customize the design to suit your hair texture, density, length, and face shape, creating a look that's uniquely yours.

Elegant Updos: Timeless, Sophisticated, and Beautiful

Updos are a favorite for weddings, formal occasions, and special celebrations because they offer an elegant finish while keeping your hair beautifully styled.

Whether you love a polished, classic look or something softer and more romantic, your updo can be customized to match your vision. Your stylist will consider your hair's natural characteristics and the level of volume, texture, and detail needed to achieve your desired result.

Even if you have short hair, you don't have to rule out an updo! With strategic placement, texture, volume, and clever pinning, your stylist can create the illusion of a fuller up-style.

For clients with long, thick, or heavily layered hair, the right styling techniques help maintain the shape of the hairstyle without making it appear bulky or allowing it to fall flat.

Romantic Curls and Soft Waves

If you prefer to wear your hair down, curls and waves are beautiful options for both event and bridal styling. Soft, romantic waves can create an effortless, feminine look, while more defined curls can add glamour and dimension.

Curls and waves are also the foundation of many formal hairstyles, including textured updos and half-up, half-down designs.

Your stylist can help determine which curl pattern best suits your desired look, whether you want something relaxed and natural or more structured and polished.

Half-Up, Half-Down Hairstyles: The Best of Both Worlds

Can't decide between an updo and wearing your hair down? A half-up, half-down hairstyle offers a lovely balance.

This style allows you to enjoy the softness and movement of curls or waves while incorporating pinned sections for added detail and shape. It can also be customized with decorative pins, combs, or other accessories to complement your outfit or bridal look.

Bring your inspiration photos to your consultation so your stylist can help you explore the options that work best for your hair.

Styling Different Hair Lengths and Textures

Every head of hair is different, and your hairstyle should work with your natural features rather than against them.

Short hair: Shorter lengths can be styled with beautiful volume, textured waves, or carefully placed pins that create the appearance of a fuller updo.

Long, thick, or layered hair: Your stylist can use specialized techniques to manage the hair's weight and layers, helping the style maintain its shape without looking too bulky.

Naturally curly or textured hair: Your natural curl pattern can be enhanced and defined, or your hair can be smoothed before creating your chosen event style.

Hair with extensions: Extensions can help add the length or volume needed for your desired hairstyle. Clip-in extensions are a convenient option for temporary styling, especially when you want a fuller updo or longer, more voluminous waves.

If you already own clip-in extensions, bring them to your consultation or appointment only if they are 100% human hair. If you need to purchase extensions, your stylist can discuss suitable options with you during your consultation.

Complete Your Look With Hair Accessories

The right accessories can make your hairstyle feel even more personal and special.

Whether you're planning to wear a veil, decorative pins, a hair comb, or statement clips, your stylist can incorporate these pieces into your design and secure them carefully so they stay in place throughout your event.

For brides, bringing your veil and hair accessories to your trial is especially helpful. This allows your stylist to see how everything works together and refine the overall look before your wedding day.

How to Prepare Your Hair Before Your Appointment

One of the easiest ways to help your event hairstyle turn out beautifully is to arrive with your hair properly prepared.

For your appointment, please follow these guidelines:

  • Arrive with clean, completely blow-dried hair.

  • Washing your hair the day before your appointment is ideal.

  • Avoid arriving with damp hair, as it won't hold heat styling properly.

  • A light heat protectant is fine to use.

  • Avoid applying heavy oils, leave-in conditioners, or wet-styling products immediately before your appointment.

Following these steps helps your stylist prepare your hair for the techniques needed to create your desired look.

How Long Does Event Hair Styling Take?

Most event hairstyles take approximately 45 to 60 minutes. If your look includes clip-in extensions or requires particularly intricate styling, plan for approximately 15 additional minutes.

If you're getting ready for a wedding or coordinating multiple services, allow enough time in your schedule so you can enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.

The Artisan Parlor also offers in-salon hair and makeup services, allowing you to get ready for your special occasion in one place.

Bridal Hair Trials: Why They're Worth It

For brides, a hair trial is highly recommended. Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion, and a trial gives you the opportunity to explore your desired look before the big day arrives.

During your trial, you and your stylist can:

  • Experiment with different hairstyles and details.

  • Test how the style holds.

  • See how your veil and accessories work with your hair.

  • Adjust the volume, curl pattern, or overall design.

  • Make sure you feel confident and comfortable with the final look.

Your stylist will take notes and photos of the hairstyle created during your trial. If you decide afterward that you'd prefer more volume, a different curl pattern, or another adjustment, let your stylist know so the look can be refined for your wedding day.

When should you book your bridal hair trial? Ideally, schedule it one to three months before your wedding, when your dress, veil, and accessories are usually finalized.

When Should You Book Your Event or Bridal Hair Styling?

Planning ahead is especially important for weddings and larger bridal parties.

We recommend booking six to nine months in advance for weddings and large bridal parties. For individual event hairstyling, booking four to six weeks ahead is usually ideal to help secure your preferred appointment time.

If you're planning a wedding, prom, formal celebration, or another special occasion, reaching out early gives you more time to discuss your vision and coordinate your beauty preparations.
